Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat concludes his 3 day visit to Nepal |
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Bipin Rawat has concluded his 3 day visit to Nepal.
Gen. Rawat called on President Bidya Devi Bhandari at Sheetal Niwas, the president house Wednesday morning.
Before departure for New Delhi he also called on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Gen Rawat had reached Kathmandu on Monday at the invitation of Nepal's COAS Gen Rajendra Chhetri.
During his visit Gen Rawat attended Nepal Army Day celebration on Tuesday as a Special Guest.
He also interacted with Gen Chhetri and said that he is feeling honored to be a part of 250th anniversary celebration of Nepal's unification.
Gen Rawat paid homage at Nepal Army War memorial in Kathmandu.
He also visited Pokhara and met officers of of the Western Division HQ.
Indian and Nepalese armies have very close and cordial relations and there has been a tradition of inviting chiefs during special occasions.
Indian Army's 14 Gorkha Training Centre Pipes and Drums Band and 58 Gorkha Training Centre Military Band had also arrived in Kathmandu to perform during Nepal Army Day celebrations.
Both the band enthralled the audience with their spectacular performance.
