Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today met Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at New Delhi and gave detailed information about the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana implemented in the state to ensure fair price to farmers for their produce.
Chouhan told him that Madhya Pradesh has distributed Rs 1900 crore from its resources under the scheme to farmers till now. He said that Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana is a scheme run by the Centre and State’s support in which both have 50-50 per cent partnership.
Chouhan urged the Union Minister to get the 50 percent partnership amount of the centre released soon.
Chouhan told Jaitley that a few basic changes have been made in the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana keeping in mind the welfare of farmers so that farmers get fair price for their produce. He told that now the farmers can avail benefits of the Yojana for their crop even after four months.
He said that now in Madhya Pradesh farmers can store their crops in godowns for four months and can sell it at the appropriate time at appropriate price. The state government will pay the rent of the godowns.
Besides, the farmer can also take 25 percent amount of the total payment of foodgrain as per his need. The Chief Minister urged the Union Minister to release Rs 2800 crore drought relief amount pending with the Centre.
He held discussion with Jaitley on share of states in central taxes and on the Rs 5,384 crore NABARD Refinance amount. He also urged release of payments of Bundelkhand package, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan etc. pending with the Centre.
Chouhan meets Narendra Modi
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at New Delhi. In a meeting that lasted nearly an hour, Chouhan told the Prime Minister about the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana implemented in state in detail.
He told that the main objective of the Yojana is to ensure that the farmers of the state get fair price for their produce.
Chouhan told that a few basic changes have been made in the Yojana keeping the interests of the farmers in mind so as to ensure that the farmers get fair price for their crops on time. Now the farmer can store his crop in godowns for four months and sell out for a good price at the appropriate time.
The farmers are no more bound to sell their crop at the mandi.The rent of the godowns will be paid by the government. He further told that if the farmer needs any money urgently at any point of time the banks will make 25 percent amount of the total crop available as loan to them. The interest on this loan also will be borne by the government.
Chouhan further said that the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana is such a protective shield for the farmer that he can face any challenge whatsoever with its help.
Chouhan meets Nitin Gadkari
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today met Union Minister for Surface Transportation Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi. Chouhan discussed in detail Bharat Mala Road Project with the Union Minister.
Chouhan also discussed 157 km Indore-Bhopal express highway constructions. The Chief Minister has demanded to construct the highway through MP Road Development Corporation (RDC), having cost of Rs 3000 crore. He said that RDC developed many national highways and its work has been satisfactory. This project is dream project for this region.
Chouhan demanded Rs 2000 crore for national highways which detail project report (DPRs) have been submitted to the centre government. In addition, Rs 572 crore has been demanded for the maintenance of national highways crossing cities from MP.
Chouhan meets Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today met Union Minister of Home Affairs Rajnath Singh at New Delhi. Chouhan urged the Home Minister to get the pending bills sent by the state government particularly the one related to death penalty to rapists of minors. It may be recalled here that Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha has sent the abovementioned bill to the Centre for approval.
During his meeting Chouhan told Union Minister Singh that a proposal of Rs 2800 crore for drought relief sent by the state government is pending with the Centre. He urged Singh to get the amount for drought relief released after getting it passed soon by a high-level committee.
