IP-Only said that it connected several thousands of premises on the Swedish island of Oland to fibre in 2017, and it will link up more than 7,000 more in 2018, mostly in rural places. This will be a record, it said. The deployments will be made all over the island, including its capital, Borgholm.
Borgholm borough council board chairman Ilko Corkovic said fibre deployment will facilitate businesses in their operations, teleworking, and medical treatment.
IP-Only said it is working in many areas, despite long procedures to obtain permits and land agreements.
During 2018, IP-Only will lay fibre to Byxelkrok, Enerum, South Lottorp, East Lottorp, Runsten and Northern Mockleby, all within Bornholm. It will also connect up the southern part of Morbylanga as well as Glomminge.
