Satkhira journalists protest ASP’s comment |
![]() Satkhira: Journalists of Satkhira district condemned and protest against the comments of assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Merina Akter she hurled during a media coverage on Tuesday night.
They made the protest during a meeting at Satkhira Press Club office on Wednesday with its president principal Abu Ahmed in the chair.
Satkhira Press Club general secretary Abdul Bari, former president Subhash Chowdhury, Abul Kalam Azad, Monirul Islam Moni, journalist GM Nur Islam, Kalyan Banerji, Ruhul Kuddus, M Kamruzzaman, Momtaz Ahmed Bappi, Golam Sarwar, Mosharraf Hossain, Amina Bilkis Moina, Robiul Islam, Aminur Rashid, Abul Kashem, M Zillur Rahman and Abdul Jalil, among others, were present in meeting.
On Tuesday night, a group of journalists, led by Abu Ahmed, went to Sathkira sadar police station officer in-charge Maruf Ahmed to cover a murder incident. At the time ASP Merina was present at the office. She told the journalists, "Our operations are being hampered for you. Investigation process is also being disturbed." Oh, get them out and make the room empty," she told the OC. In protest, the journalists left the room at once.
