Oxy-Fuel Gas Leak Suspected Cause Of ONGC Explosion

Two separate enquiry teams have been formed to identify the exact cause of the blast in an oil rig at the Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) in which five persons were killed. Resident joint director of the factories and boilers wing attached to the shipyard has begun a preliminary probe while the CSL has constituted an internal probe team.

A combination of acetylene and oxygen (oxy-fuel) gas used for cutting and welding may have caused the blast in one of the tanks located on the bottom part of the oil rig. Read More…
