Malayalam actor Priya Prakash Varrier, whose wink in the upcoming film 'Oru Adaar Love', become a rage on internet, has now landed in trouble, with a group of boys lodging a complaint against the lyrics of a song from the movie.
Some Muslim youths lodged a complaint with the Falaknuma Police here on Wednesday, claiming that the song 'Manikyala Malaraya Poovi' had a mention about Prophet Mohammed's wife Khadijah Bibi and it has therefore hurt their sentiments.
The youths have demanded a ban on the song.
The police have not registered an FIR but assured the young men that they would examine the song.
Falaknuma Police Inspector P Yadagiri said that the Central Crime Station (CCS) will be investigating the complaint as it involves coordination with the Kerala Police where the respondents live.
While the police are of the opinion that the youths are doing this to gain cheap publicity, the complainants claimed that the lyrics are nothing but blasphemy.
Mohammed Abdul Muqeeth Khan, one among the complainants, refuted claims of wanting publicity.
"I am a B Tech student and not interested in organising rallies. I went through the lyrics available in English and Hindi on YouTube. There is the name of our Prophet's wife, Khadijah Bibi, in the song. I have decided to protest," he said.
He said that though the song is good and popular, he would have liked it if the name of the Prophet's wife was not in it.
Abdul Kauser, another complainant, said that they will fight for protection of their religious sentiments through legal means.
The video of the song has, so far, garnered 14 million likes.
