A couple from the town have brought out an album of 12 songs in 12 different languages, praising Gomateshwara.
Sarvesh Jain and his wife Sowmya Jain have dedicated the multi-lingual songs to the Mahamastakabhisheka.
The languages they have chosen are Prakrit, Kannada, Sanskrit, Tamil, English, Hindi, Marwari, Marathi, Tulu, Bengali, Telugu and Malayalam. They have composed music for the album 'Jain Beats'. It took three years for the Jains to bring out the album. Dr Mahaveer Chowgala Hulloli has extended his support for the unique attempt.
The Kannada song in the album 'Bahubali Swami Jagakkella Swami' and 'Shravana Belguli Chavu Chala' (Marathi) have already become popular among the devotees.
Jain Mutt seer Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swami has penned the Pallavi (the first two lines of the song which is repeated after every stanza) for the English song, which is a special feature.
All the 12 songs have been uploaded on YouTube. The songs may be downloaded from the website www.jainbeats.myshopify.com.
Speaking to DH, Sarvesh said they decided to bring out 12 songs in 12 languages as Bahubali was in penance for 12 years, the time taken for sculpting the statue was 12 years and the Mahamastakabhisheka is held once in 12 years. Hence, we decided to highlight number 12 and decided to perform 'swarabhisheka' with 12 songs in different languages praising the messenger of peace. Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swami provided the necessary guidance. A lot of experimentation went into composing the music for the song in Prakrit language. After several modifications, the Swami gave his approval for the raga, Sarvesh said.
There are several music CDs on Bahubali. But this is the first time there are 12 songs in different languages in a single album. The songs will be rendered during the cultural programme to be held at Chavundaraya Sabha Mantap during the Mahamajjana of Bahubali on February 17, he added.
