Kanpur, February 14: An Army jawan died on Tuesday after being shot by his own rifle at a wedding reception in Chakeri town of Kanpur. The jawan had come to attend the wedding of his friend.
“We received a call, they told us he was shot at the wedding ceremony. Later we received another call and we were informed that he died. They were saying that he was shot by his own rifle after someone accidentally hit it on his legs but how was he hit in the chest?” jawan’s sister said.
The Army jawan was posted in Ambala.
A case has been registered. “He died after being shot by his own rifle. The one who fired from the rifle has been arrested. Action will be taken.” Kanpur SSP Akhilesh Kumar Meena said.
