Axtel revenues up 13% to MXN 4.3 bln in Q4

Mexican operator and ICT services provider Axtel reported revenues of MXN 4.29 billion in the fourth quarter, up 13 percent year on year, boosted in part by the third phase of its sale of 142 towers to American Towers. The company’s EBITDA increased some 59 percent year on year to MXN 1.45 billion, thanks to a 7 percent rise in recurring business revenues to MXN 2.61 billion while consumer revenues came in at MXN 832 million, up 12 percent year on year, and government revenues soared to MXN 941 million, up from MXN 558 million a year earlier.

Axtel was acquired by industrial conglomerate Alfa at the end of 2015 and last year issued a statement to the Mexican Stock Exchange denying rumours of a potential sale. Axtel is also part of the Altan Redes consortium awarded a 20-year concession to build and run the country's wholesale 4G shared network (Red Compartida).
