Imphal, February 12 2018: Samuel Jendai MLA Tamenglong AC today reacted strongly against the open letter of the Nagaland Buptist Churches Council (NBCC) saying he 'does not subscribe to the negative propaganda of Bharatya Janata Party (BJP) of being anti-Christian'.

The reaction comes after the NBCC, the biggest Church organisation in Nagaland asked 'believers' to choose between the 'Trishul' and the 'Cross' .

"Had the BJP been anti-Christian and against the Constitution of India I would not be a member of the party," said the MLA.

"...the BJP led Government had initiated pro/Christian friendly gesture by giving advance pay of December to Government employee days before Christmas day which was widely acknowledge by all especially by the majority Christians from the six Autonomous District Councils hill tribal areas," said the statement issued by the MLA.

Samuel Jendai further said that the Election Commission of India would not have granted recognition to BJP as a political party if it is anti-Christian or against any religion/religious belief or against the constitution of India.

"The fact that the stand and tone of the NBCC getting vocal just few days before the Nagaland Assembly election 2018 may be misunderstood as politically motivated and is not in consistence with the Christian principles of Christian religion/Church body." "As the Holy Bible says there is time for everything the time for change and development has come and is knocking at the door/conscience of every voter (Christian and all others) to the Nagaland Assembly election 2018," said Samuel.
