Kent State University offers scholarships
Many students with a good academic score can't fulfil their aspiration of studying in a good international university due to want of funds. Well, Kent State University, Ohio, is trying to reduce that stress for well deserving students by offering a number of scholarships for the forthcoming Fall session. As Kent State University (KSU) values diversity amongst its student population they have created a new “Global Scholarship” to attract a greater number of high quality international students to its campuses. The “Global Scholarship” is immediately available to all incoming international undergraduate degree-seeking students who apply to Kent State beginning with fall 2018 semester. The Global Scholarship provides eligible students with $4,000 per year ($2,000 per semester) reducing the cost of their undergraduate degree by up to $16,000,” says Salma Benhaida, Director International Recruitment Admissions & Sponsored Student Services. Salma was on a five-city tour of India interacting with students from different schools. “For the Global Scholarship to renew every year students simply need to maintain continuous full-time enrolment and good academic standing. Along with other scholarships that the university is offering an international student can get up to $32,000 towards a 4-year undergraduate degree,” Salma added.
Indian Myeloma Congress concludes, successfully
The Indian Myeloma Congress was a three day event from 09-11 Feb 2018, held at Manekshaw Auditorium by the Department of Hematology, Army Hospital (Research and Referral) under the aegis of Indian Myeloma Academic Groupe (IMAGe). The conference was inaugurated by the Commandant of AHRR and Offg DGMS(Army), Lt Gen AK Das, PVSM appreciated the efforts of organsing chairperson Brig S Das and organising secretary Lt Col Uday for bringing together more than 1000 participants. This was followed by a felicitation of the pioneers of Haemato-oncology in India, i.e., Dr. MammenChandy, Dr. MB Agarwal, Lt Gen Velu Nair PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd), and Dr. Subhash Varma.
MMTC’s Financial performance for 9 months ended 31 Dec 2017
MMTC Limited declared its financial results for the nine months ended 31st December, 2017. During the nine months, the company has achieved revenue from operations of Rs 13,356 crore as against the revenue from operations of Rs 9,170 crore during the corresponding period last year registering a growth of 146 per cent over the same period last year. Gross profit from operations is Rs 232.96 crore as compared to Rs 172.66 crore during the corresponding period last year. During this period, exports increased by 28 per cent to Rs 1422 crore as compared to Rs 1,108 crore during the corresponding period last year. During this period,imports turnover increased by 54 per cent to Rs 10,221 crore as compared to Rs 6,638 crore during the corresponding period last year. The company's performance in other areas also significantly improved - like reduction in bebtors, inventory, administrative and other expenses etc. The company has formulated an ambitious plan for doubling of trade in the next 5 years.
Collaboration of SAIL and IIT Kharagpur on Science of Happiness
Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has joined hands with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur's Rekhi Centre of Excellence for the Science of Happiness. This initiative of SAIL is aimed at embracing Science of Happiness for enhancing wellbeing and effectiveness of its employees and to enable them to contribute in a meaningful way towards the vision of the organisation. The Rekhi Centre of Excellence for Science of Happiness was set up in IIT Kharagpur in 2016 with a vision to promote the science and practice of positivity for fostering meaningful life, happiness, wellbeing and holistic self-development. The centre has already entered into collaborative ventures with Government of Madhya Pradesh and Civic body of New Town Kolkata. SAIL becomes the first corporate to collaborate with the Rekhi Centre of Excellence for the Science of Happiness.
NALCO CMD graces National meet of Indian Journalists Union
National Executive Council meet of Indian Journalists Union (IJU) was held recently at Bhubaneswar to discuss issues concerning the welfare of the working journalists across the country. Senior journalists including K Sreenivas Reddy, General Secretary D Amar, & Vice President of International Federation of Journalists Sabina Inderjit were present on the occasion. Considered the think tank of journalists, more than 60 IJU members from 24 states participated in the meet. Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD, Nalco graced the occasion as the chief guest and interacted with the media professionals who are attending this meet at the temple city. Speaking on Mass Media & Mass Society, Dr. Chand said that media is more than a mirror of public opinion. While it reflects true & fair picture of public opinion it also very often generates and promotes public opinion. Speaking about the home state, Dr Chand also said that due to low visibility at national & international level and lack of market, Odisha is not attracting sufficient number of project proponents despite rich in resources. He urged the media fraternity to highlight Odisha's strength, so that industrial investment climate gets a boost and enough jobs are created.
