SDM office clerk caught taking bribe in court

A clerk posted with office of SDM Govindpura was caught red-handed by the Special Police Establishment (SPE) of the Lokayukta Bhopal while accepting a bribe of `3000 at SDM court’s chamber on Monday.

The accused had demanded bribe for facilitating diversion relief to the victim in construction over his land without obtaining permission.

The reader of SDM Govindpura Mukul Gupta, Rajendra Rajput was nabbed while accepting bribe from the victim Balmukund Sahu of `3000. This was the second part of the bribe.

On 0.35 acre without diversion, the victim had constructed building and he was served a notice on February 8 by SDM. Later, when the victim visited SDM office the accused asked him to provide bribe to facilitate diversion report.

For facilitating relief in the issue the victim was asked to shed `15000 and provided `2000 on last Friday but later he decided to lodge a complaint with SPE. 

After the complaint was received, Lokayukta officials asked the victim to provide the money on Monday at the office of the accused. The accused Rajendra Rajput who was scheduled to collect the money asked the victim to provide the money in the chamber of the SDM court and was nabbed by Lokayukta team.

A case was registered against Rajendra Rajput under section 7 and 13 (1) (d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation into the matter has been started.
