Hair of some students chopped for not getting proper haircut

Deputy Director of Public Instruction K. Pundalik has issued a notice to St. John’s English Medium School in Kakati village on charges of chopping off the hair of some students for not getting a proper haircut.

“We have sought a detailed response to complaints from some parents that their wards’ hair had been chopped on order of the headmistress. She had warned them against not wearing their hair short a few times in the week. However, when she noticed that they had come to school without the accepted style of haircut on Monday, she asked a staff member to chop off hair above their forehead,” an Education Department official said.

The school’s response will be studied and inspections will be done before we initiate action against the teacher and the school, R. Ramachandran, ZP CEO, told The Hindu.
