THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP has decided to wield former state president P S Sreedharan Pillai as their candidate in Chengannur constituency.
Talking to a channel, Sreedharan Pillai himself has confirmed this, adding that the party desires hid candidature in Chengannur.
The by-poll in Chengannur is following the demise of K K Rmachandran Nair MLA of CPM. Sreedharan Pilllai had secured 42,000 votes in the last election, which was the biggest draw for the BJP. The BJP leadership thinks that there is no other candidate who can take up the challenge of maintaining that vote share.
Also, the BDJS has promised their support for Sreedharan Pillai. BDJS state president Tushar Vellapally, who said Sreedharan Pillai is a good candidate, added that raising the number of votes to 42,000 in the last election was a significant achievement.
