V.O. Chidambaranar Port Observes Productivity Week

The inaugural function of the Productivity week was held on 12th February 2018, at Port Administrative Building.

In the Inaugural Function, Shri T.S. Ashokkumar, Senior Deputy Traffic Manager welcomed the gathering and explained about the programmes planned for the year 2018.  DIG S.B. Venkatesh, Commanding Officer Coast Guard and Trustee, V.O.Chidambararanar Port Trust, delivered the Chief Guest address. In his address, he emphasized that the Port industry is undergoing a major structural change in the global economy in the recent years and the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the Business process has redefined the concept of Business to Customer (B2C). He also stated Internet of Things (IoT) will further accelerate the integration of overall Logistics Supply Chain.

Felicitations were offered by Shri R. Rusel, TrusteeV.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust and Shri CaptBhabatosh Chand, Deputy Conservator, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust. The Inaugural function concluded with Vote of thanks from Shri G. Edison, Senior Deputy Traffic Manager, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust.

V.O. Chidambaranar Port will observe ‘Productivity Week’ from 13.02.2018 to 18.02.2018 as per the directives of National Productivity Council to celebrate Productivity Day. The Diamond Jubilee of Productivity Week is observed on the theme ‘Industry 4.0: Leapfrog Opportunity for India’.It is characterized by the increasing digitization and interconnection of products, value chains and business models. Industry 4.0 is driven by an amalgamation of emerging technologies like data volumes, computational power, Internet of Things (IoT), business analytics, artificial intelligence, elemental design, simulation, advanced robotics, sensor based technologies etc.

As a part of the celebrations, Essay, Slogan writing and Elocution Competitions on Productivity aspects will be conducted for the staff of the Port. Productivity Seminar programmes for the Port users, Representatives of Union and the Port employees will also be organized. The Valedictory function will be conducted on 18th February 2018.
