3 held with 150 kg meat, hides of rare wild animals

Three persons were arrested and more than 150 kg of skinned meat of wild animals, hide of rare animals like spotted deer, black buck and blue bulls and a pistol recovered from their possession at Bharat Talkies area under Talaiya police station late on Sunday night. However, two persons managed to escape the spot and search has been started to nab the absconders.

Cops got information at around 1am in the night regarding car carrying skinned meat and skins of wild animals. Based on the information regarding car bearing registration number MP04CA4726 was tracked and police seized the vehicle.

In the initial investigation details pistol, skinned meat and skins of animals have been recovered and details of which would be provided by the police later in the investigation. Those arrested were identified as Amir and Shahwar of Koh-e-Fiza and Amir of Jehangirabad and confessed in the investigation that they poached the animals in Gulabganj forest of Vidisha.

The suspects would be quizzed regarding the main accused as it has been found that the nabbed are part of nexus which is operated by a mastermind whose identity is yet to be identified and revealed. The police would investigate disposal of huge amount of meat of wild animal as after the meat would be disposed the skin would fetch a good amount.

A case under section 9, 41 and 51 of the Wild Life Protection Act 1972 was registered against the three nabbed accused.

Clerk held taking bribe

Bhopal: A clerk was today caught red-handed by Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta’s Special Police Establishment (SPE) while accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000, Lokayukta sources said. Assistant Grade-3 clerk Rajendra Rajput, who was posted at the Govindpura Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office, had demanded bribe from Balmukund Sahu for correcting diversion report. He was nabbed while accepting the bribe at his office.
