Singer-composer-songwriter Rahul Mishra, who has released a romantic number Naina around Valentine’s Day, says that there is a strong connection between love and eyes
Tu Hi Hai-fame (Half Girlfriend) singer Rahul Mishra has launched a romantic single Naina around Valentine’s Day. The song produced by VYRL originals (EMI Records) and Mohit Suri, released on February 9. Rahul says that the song is a conversation between two lovers. “While the boy proposes, the girl replies by saying, ‘How can I read your eyes?’” says the singer while promoting the song.
The singer says that eyes have a deep connection with love. “We keep hearing the statement, ‘Love at first sight’. This is because we first meet someone face-to-face, then we get to know the person and we start liking him/ her. Sometimes a person may not utter a word but the other person gets to know everything by just looking into their eyes. Eyes speaks a lot,” he says.
Rahul says that he had actually not planned the song around Valentine’s Day. “But when the song was ready, Valentine’s Day was round the corner and we thought that the audience will get to hear a romantic number on this special occasion and therefore decided to release it now,” he says.
The singer-music composer, who has given music to films in different languages including Marathi and Hindi for over a decade and a half, says that when it comes to Bollywood songs based on the theme — aankhen — his favourite is Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam).
But will today’s youth, who have immersed themselves in the world of social media and believe in WhatsApp romance, be able to connect with your song? “Songs are being released on a regular basis but the audience connects with the melody. And Naina’s strength is its melody which I think the younger generation and the audience in general will connect with. As far as youngsters and their fast paced romance is concerned, no matter how fast our lives are, we still give a lot of importance to love. It’s an integral part of our lives,” he explains.
Not just love songs but the composer, who has created music for Marathi films like Pak Pak Pakaak and Manatlya Unhat, says that music too plays an important role in our lives. “In India, music is an integral part of our lives. Music is divine and so is love. Good music helps us convey our message better,” he says.
After delivering a recent hit Tu Hi Hai, the audience’s expectations have gone up. Has this made him more choosy about the songs he selects? “I have always been choosy. I realised the fact that the audience expects better and better content from me. After giving this high quality song, I myself have raised the bar. Now, I have set higher standards to achieve,” says the singer who is doing other projects with EMI Records and Mohit Suri, which will release soon.
