Former China Internet Regulator Accused of Corruption
Lu Wei, who hasn’t been seen in public for months, ‘used public assets for personal use,’ government says
SHANGHAI—China’s leadership on Tuesday accused the nation’s former internet regulator, Lu Wei, of crimes as well as disloyalty and personal flaws as it ejected him from the Communist Party and said he would face prosecution.
The 58-year-old former internet czar was put under investigation by the party in November and Tuesday’s announcement from the party’s anticorruption arm alleged widespread sordid behavior including soliciting bribes. the announcement didn’t provide details.
