PFA Manipur rescues Python from worshippers

Bpr, February 12 2018: A python worshipped and revered by people of Thanga, was rescued by a combined team of Keibul Lamjao National Park staff, People for Animals Manipur and Bishnupur forest staff today.

International Salai Punsikon and members of Thanga Loishang have been worshipping the python ever since it was found near Thangalakpa shrine in Thanga.

The story came to light when several people started visiting the temple to offer prayers and the story of the python was eventually disseminated on social media sites.

The PFA Manipur in association with Forest staff headed to the place but the people refused to let the team take the python.

PFA Manipur along with Keibul RO, L Biramangol and his staff, OC Inspector W Ibocha went to rescue the python the next day.

After giving proper counselling to the people, the team rescued the python successfully.

Meanwhile, the python will be released in a proper location after getting permission from CWW.
