Vodafone said it's conducted the first successful live demonstration of pre-standard 5G technology in Ireland. At the Douglas Hyde Gallery at Trinity College, Vodafone Ireland and Ericsson achieved 15 Gbps with a latency of less than 5 ms in the demonstration using the operator's 3.6GHz spectrum acquired last year.

The event showcased applications ranging from remote experts and augmented reality to immersive gaming, in order to show customers and businesses what they can expect from 5G. This included an ‘Internet of Skills’ to highlight educational opportunities that will be made available to support the healthcare industry.
