Pran was a brilliant and versatile actor, who will live in hearts of people forever. In 50s and 60s, Pran was famous for his villainous roles as his name invoked fear in audience. But, Pran did positive roles as well, and got equal appreciation. Today, on his birth anniversary, we look at some of his best roles with positive shades.

Parichay

In Gulzar’s 1972 film based on Bengali novel ‘Rangeen Uttarain’ by Raj Kumar Maitra, Pran played a proud father and strict grandfather. The character had various shades, and Pran pulled it off in utmost convincing fashion.

Upkar

In Upkar, Pran played a legendary supporting role. The 1967 film helmed by Manoj Kumar was a superhit at the box office. People loved Pran in an unforgettable character as Mangal Chahcha. His song ‘Kasme Wade Pyar Wafa…’ become a classic.


Bobby

In the blockbuster Bobby (1973), Pran portrayed a character of Mr. Nath Rishi’s industrialist father. The movie helmed by Raj Kapoor. It was a musical romance film featuring Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia in lead roles. As a father, Pran once again made a significant impact.

Naseeb

Pran and Amitabh Bachchan featured in many movies, in which they seen as rivals of each other. But in Naseeb, Pran gave a brilliant performance as the character of Namdev. He was excellence personified in the supporting cast of the multi-starrer.

Sharaabi

Another film with Amitabh Bachchan. Here, Pran plays a millionaire father of drunkard song Amitabh Bachchan. The film showcase a high voltage drama between father and son and the two actors are in peak form.
