‘Padman’ collects Rs 40 crore over the weekend

After releasing on 9 February 2018, ‘Padman’ earned two-day tally to Rs 23.50 crore.

The film earned Rs 10 crore on day one, the film minted Rs 13.50 crore on Saturday.

The social drama ‘Padman’ is expected to earn about Rs 40 crore over the weekend.

Trade expert Amod Mehra says, “it is a sign of the changing mindset of the society.”

“The collections show that the audience is not shying away from watching subjects that were earlier considered taboo. It will definitely have a strong first week collection.”

He says, “It’s not a commercial subject, but looking at the collections, it feels otherwise. I hope more filmmakers and actors make films on subjects that educate the audience.”

Pad Man is a biographical drama based on the life of the Tamil Nadu-based activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, who worked towards providing cost-effective and hygienic sanitary napkins to the women in the rural areas, and features Akshay Kumar playing the lead role while Radhika Apte plays the role of his wife.
