Cricketer Shakib Al Hasan on Sunday said he was going to start a new journey to turn Bangladesh into a corruption-free country.
He came up with the remark at a signing ceremony with Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) as a Goodwill Ambassador of ACC at its headquarters at Segun Bagicha in the capital.
After becoming ACC Goodwill Ambassador, world's highest ranked all-rounder in all three formats of cricket, Shakib Al Hasan said: "I am proud to be able to work with an organization like the Anti-Corruption Commission. If a person is benefited by my efforts to eliminate corruption, then I will feel successful."
He said: "From today, I have started the new journey to build a corruption-free country. We will work jointly for the development of the country without corruption."
In the programme the ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmud said: "We can't sacrifice our next generation's future for some corrupt people. The Commission will use all the power against the corrupt people in collaboration with everyone."
The ACC Chairman said: "All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is a pride of our country. Shakib is the best in the world today with his talent, dedication and genuine efforts. If teenagers and young people of our country try to follow him, they too can be successful in their respective fields."
