A day after nine juveniles escaped from an observation home in Ambala, authorities in Haryana on Monday ordered a probe into the matter.
Ambala Deputy Commissioner Sharandeep Kaur appointed Sub-Divisional Magistrate Satender Siwach as the inquiry officer, an official spokesman said here. Ambala is 45 km from here.
The juveniles escaped on Sunday from their barrack and used a ladder to escape from the premises.
"As per a fact-finding report, watchmen and one guard were found absent from duty," the spokesman said.
Director General of Police (Jails) has been asked to take disciplinary action against the erring officials.
The spokesman said some closed-circuit televisions were damaged earlier by the inmates to facilitate their escape.
