Health Cube examination begins in Wayanad



Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 12: The Health Cube begins function on an experimental basis to help diagnose diseases in the adivasi areas of Wayanad district. The District Governance and Health Department has set up 'Health Cube' with the help of Idea Cellular Company.

The 'Health Cube' was purchased as a part of the Corporative Service Responsibility, was handed over to district collector S. Suhasan by the head of Idea HR head Krishnaprasad. The Wayanad district has seven health care units. With this tool 24 important tests can be done.

Single unit of equipment costs Rs. 65,000. Sugar, BP, typhoid, pregnancy test, urine tests, HIV and malaria can be done within a short period of time. The health department is planning to initiate the first phase of tests at Bathery Tribal Mobile Unit. Later this facility will be extended to other six tribal mobile units in Wayanad district.

The Health Cube has been functioning successfully under NHM in Ernakulam. ADM KM Raju, Deputy DMO Dr. Santosh, Idea HR Manjer Jithin Lal, Zonal Head Shaijan, Dr Dadiya Suraj and Dr. Sunish participated in the function.
