The kid archer will get trained in latest techniques during her stay in the States

City’s popular kid archer Cherukuri Dolly Shivani is all set to fly to the United States of America to attend the screening of the short film made on her, at the New York film festival which kickstarts on February 15, said Volga Archery Academy chairman Cherukuri Satyanarayana here on Sunday.

New York-based filmmaker Jamie Dobie, along with her crew sponsored by Walt Disney Productions, came to Vijayawada last year and made a film on the five-year-old archery sensation. The film was already screened at Full Frame Documentary Film festival in Durham last April. “The film will be screened at MoMA’s international film festival at Museum of Modern Arts in New York on February 18 and the festival committee has invited us to be part of the screening,” said Dolly father’s Satyanarayana. “Dolly Shivani, her mother Krishna Kumari and I will be leaving on February 14, “ he said.

He said the maker has added several frills to the film such as surround sound mix, re-editing of dialogue and revisiting other components of post-production. “With all the new additions the film is at its most polished and complete form.”

Mr Satyanarayana is also making use of his sojourn in the USA in a fruitful manner by arranging for Dolly Shivani to learn modern techniques from former Mexico national coach Nattie Jamie, who is presently the chief of Robinhood Academy at California. “Shivani will be in his academy for a week and will learn the latest skills,” he said.

KKR Gowtham Educational Institutions Director Avinesh has donated ₹ 2 lakhs to Dolly Shivani, a first-class student in his school, to help her buy the latest apparatus to upgrade her skills and technique.
