Newly elected Ctg Bar presedent, general secretary
Pro BNP-Jamaat lawyers' platform has swept the Chittagong Bar Association election held on Sunday.
Of the 19 posts, BNP-Jamaat panel bagged 12 posts, including that of the secretary while pro Awami League panel got the rest seven, including the post of president.
Sheikh Iftekhar Saimul Chowdhury has been elected president while Mohamamd Nazim Uddin Chowdhury general secretary.
Chief Election Commissioner and senior lawyer advocate Nazmul Ahsan Khan Alamgir Chowdhury announced the results on Sunday midnight.
The voting of the election began at 9am and concluded around 4 with some 3,715 lawyers casting their votes. Some 56 lawyers competed for 19 posts of the body.
