THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ministers in the Kerala cabinet have said that the instruction given by the Chief Minister for them to be present at the state capital at least for five days in a week in not practical.
They have clarified that they would have different programmes to attend in their constituencies and they cannot avoid this.
The CM’s instruction was contested by most of the CPI ministers. Meanwhile, the CM has not accepted their argument.
The cabinet meeting that was called up on by the CM last week to discuss the time period of ordinances was cancelled as the forum required to hold a cabinet meeting was not filled. This was followed by the CM giving a strict instruction that the ministers must be present at the state capital for at least five days in a week, during the cabinet meeting that convened on Monday.
However, the ministers further argued that the events relating to their respective departments cannot be limited to the state capital, that they cannot take part in the different events happening in their constituency in just two days.
This was followed by the CM giving another strict instruction that the ministers who wish to leave the state capital must take prior permission from him. He added that the ministers must be present at the state capital for as much as time as they can.
