Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionaries staged a protest in front of Town Municipal Council (TMC) at Malur on Monday condemning removal of the saffron flags by the local body.
Flags, flexes and buntings were put up in the town as part of flag march by the RSS which was held on Sunday. The TMC authorities removed the flags on Sunday night enraging the functionaries.
They gathered in front of the urban local body office and raised slogans condemning the action of the TMC. They took objection to the removal of materials though they had promised to remove them.
Bowing to the pressure, TMC president Ramamurthy later apologised to the organisation following which the protest was withdrawn.
