AMBELIM: Cuncolim Union and Y C Manora played a 1-1 draw in the GFA Geno 1st Division Football League match played at Ambelim grounds on Monday.
Cuncolim Union shot into the lead in the 30th minute through medio John Khati while Y C Manora levelled the score in the 65th minute through Benson Fernandes.
The goal that Cuncolim Union scored came off a deflection which landed at the feet of John Khati who lost no time in sending a powerful shot that had no answer from Manora keeper Agnelo Noronha as the ball crashed in the top corner of the nets to the left of the keeper.
The match then almost was played on equal terms with both the teams having equal share of opportunities to find the mark.
The ball swung from one end to the other as both the teams played some attacking football, but could not dish out their best due to bad playing conditions.
During the course of the match, Cuncolim Union goalkeeper Subhani Bose clashed with a Monora played and had to be rushed to the Hospicio Hospital in the ambulance that was available as per mandatory rules.
Bose’s condition being serious, he was shifted to the Goa Medical College for further investigations.
In the second session, Y C Manora restored parity following a good build up as Benson banged the ball from inside the box to beat Cuncolim Union’s substitute keeper Oswin Rodrigues who was inducted in the 8th minute of play when Bose was injured.
