Wide range of products were on display

It was a lively atmosphere at Vidya Sagar’s campus in Kotturpuram on Sunday. The organisation, which works with persons with disabilities, hosted a Sunday Bazaar in which entrepreneurs from across the city got to display their wares.

“I’ve not participated in a fair like this before and I am overwhelmed by the response,” said Hameedha Sultana, who makes home-made spices and biryani.

This is the first time Vidya Sagar has hosted the bazaar. People from all walks of life, and a few students from the organisation, were at the event. The day-long bazaar had over 20 stalls with displays of food and products like art, home decor, plants, clothes and games. The organisation’s store, Kalakkalkadai, where items are made by self-employed persons with disabilities, also had a stall. “I like their lampshades and carpets,” said R. Anita, an IT professional.

“The idea is to give visibility to entrepreneurs who want to sell their wares and also create a community network,” said Anuradha Sankaran, youth programme coordinator at Vidya Sagar.
