Imphal, February 11 2018: Union Taekwondo Academy (UTA), Yumnam Leikai who have been leading the medal tally since the first day of the 30th Manipur State Taekwondo Championship 2017-18 emerged overall champions with a total of 502 points today.

National Sports Academy (NSA) finished overall runners up with 321 points in the championship which was held at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium.

UTA won the team titles in the sub-junior girls (74 points), cadet girls (64 points), junior girls (45 points), senior girls (81 points), sub-junior boys (75 points) and senior boys (73 points) categories.

NSA won the team titles in the cadet boys' and junior boys' categories and finished runners up in the junior girls' categories.

Sports Authority of India Regional Centre (SAI-RC) clinched runners up team titles in the junior boys, cadet boys and senior boys categories while PTA won the sub-junior girls and boys team titles.

L Aleevia bagged of UTA bagged the gold medal in the U-24 kg category final staged today while Tanu of HTA bagged the silver medal.

Esha from Sora Unit claimed the bronze medal in this category.

In the U-29 kg category, Sonia added a gold medal for NSA while UTA's M Sanathoi claimed the silver medal.

Ciyasing of Nambol unit and Liribi A of UTA claimed the bronze medals.

In the sub-junior boys' U-27 kg category final event, UTA's Shyamson bagged the gold medal while CTIS' S Pariton claimed the silver medal.

TPA's K Neeraj and Genius Toijam of Naoriya unit got the bronze medals.

In the U-32 kg category, S Rikison of NSA fetched the gold medal overcoming Bidyananda Phairembam of PTA in the final while Ch Chinglensana of UTA and PTA's RK Tuiton bagged the bronze medals.

In the cadet girls U-44 kg category, Th Lucky of SAI-RC laid her hand on the gold medal while I Bijaya of NSA was contended with the silver medal.

NSA's Teresa N and UTA's Martina Wahengbam shared the podium for bronze medals.

In the U-51 kg category, HTA's RK Sarvina fetched the gold medal while RK Rishika of NSA was settled with the silver medal.

Suhana of Sora unit and W Chandrakiran of UTA claimed the bronze medals.

In the U-57 kg category for cadet boys, Y Prabito Singh of NSA won the gold medal beating Ak Kensingh Meitei of PTA while Th Akash and K Misharjit Singh of UTA claimed the bronze medals.

In the U-68 kg category for junior girls, N Helena Devi of NSA bagged the last gold medal while.

In the senior girls' U-57 kg category, T Sanathoi Devi added a gold medal to SAI-RC' tally while S Monika Devi and L Joypriya claimed the silver and the bronze medals.

In the U-73 kg category, UTA's M Tolika Devi fetched the gold medal.

L Dhane of SAI-RC won the gold medal in the U-68 kg category for senior boys while I Ajay of Nambol unit and Sandipkumar of Keishampat unit bagged the silver and the bronze medals respectively.

The closing ceremony of the State championship was graced by Y Khemchand, Speaker , Manipur Legislative Assembly, H Dingo Singh, MLA, Sekmai AC, and M Joy Singh, IAS, Secretary, Adult Education as dignitaries who gave away prizes to the winners and participants.

The four day championship was participated by a total of 409 players from across 16 units of the State.
