NY Attorney General Files Lawsuit Saying Harvey Weinstein Threatened To Kill Employees

A new lawsuit filed against Harvey Weinstein by New York’s Attorney General alleges that he threatened to kill Weinstein Company employees along with their families.

Newsweek reports that the lawsuit was filed following a four month investigation into Weinstein after at least 50 women accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct.

In a statement, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said “The Weinstein Company repeatedly broke New York law by failing to protect its employees from pervasive sexual harassment, intimidation, and discrimination.” The lawsuit claims Weinstein misused his female staff to conquer “vulnerable women.” According to the lawsuit, the Hollywood movie producer told several employees that he would kill them and had secret service contacts who would help.

Weinstein’s lawyer said “While Mr.

Weinstein's behavior was not without fault, there certainly was no criminality,” Weinstein was fired from his company in October of 2017 following stories in the New Yorker and the New York Times exposing allegations of sexual misconduct.

The new lawsuit also blocks the 500 million sale of the company that was set to take place.
