Imphal, February 11 2018: CYCLONE Cricket Club, Thangmeiband rode on Homendro to beat REYS (Royal Eleven Youngsters) Cricket Club, Nagamapal by four wickets and clinched the title of the 1st Heibok T-20 Cricket Tournament 2018 which got underway from January 7 at Langthabal Public Ground.

The Tournament was organised by Langthabal Sporting Club under the aegis of Manipur Cricket Association.

Revenue Minister, Karam Shyam, L Roshan Singh, Zilla Parishad member, 13 Langthabal, S Priyananda Singh, secretary, Manipur Cricket Association, Aheibam Sunanda Devi, Pradhan, Langthabal Mantrikhong Naorem Leikai Gram Panchayat, Nongmeikapam Ganga Devi, Pradhan, Langthabal Ningombam Gram Panchayat, Th Ibomcha Singh, president, Langthabal Sporting Club attended the closing ceremony of the tournament as dignitaries who gave away prizes to the winners and participating teams.

The first inning of the entertaining final match went to REYS who won the toss and chose to bat first.

Opener Mintuchandra took off the inning with a superb batting performance hitting 52 runs off 57 runs however, the remaining batting line up could not keep the momentum intact and managed to post a total of 117 runs for 5 in 20 overs.

Jayanta scored 15 runs off 17 balls while Robertson made 11 runs of 4 balls in the first inning and helped REYS set the target of 118 runs.

Homendro of CYCLONE picked two wickets in this inning while Ashaykumar and L Kishan claimed one each.

Nicky of REYS was unstoppable in his bowling today claiming four of the best immensely pressing the Thangmeiband side in the second inning but Homendro (not out) who made 19 runs (8 deliveries) came to the rescue in time and smashed three boundaries (one four and two sixes) in the last two overs to help his team romp to a 4 wicket victory.

Narsingh who came out as opener went back into the pavilion with 26 runs off 17 balls in this inning.

Bikash and Kishan (not out) contributed 14 runs and 12 runs in the chase which reached the target in 19.2 overs.

Homendro was declared man of the match for his contribution of 19 runs and two wicket haul.

Winners team, CYCLONE walked away with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 donated by Minister Karam Shyam and the Heibok Trophy (rolling) sponsored by Kangjam Chaoba while runners up team, REYS were contended with a cash prize of Rs 30,000 contributed by L Roshan Singh along with runners up trophy sponsored by Kangjam Chaoba.

Man of the series award with trophy went to Jayanta of REYS for scoring 165 runs and claiming 11 wickets while L Bikash clinched the highest wicket taker award along with a trophy.

Narsingh Yadav who racked up a total of 252 runs in the tournament won the highest run scorer award along with a trophy.

Man of the final match, Homendro was also honoured with a cash prize along with trophy.

All the individual prizes worth Rs 2,000 (cash) and trophies were donated by Yumnam Sarat.
