Salem: A police constable was placed under suspension after he accidently shot a bullet from a rifle while cleaning it on the premises of the armed reserve force at Kumarasamypatty here on Monday.
According to sources in the city police, the constable in the armed reserve force, Kesavaraj, was suspended for using the rifle in a negligent manner. “The bullet hit a roof near arms storage room. No was injured in the incident," said an officer.
DIG T Senthil Kumar and SP P Rajan rushed to the spot and questioned Kesavaraj. After the inquiry, the DIG directed the SP to place Kesavaraj under suspension. Based on the direction, the SP issued the suspension order to the constable Kesavaraj on the same day. He also ordered for a departmental inquiry in connection with this.tnn
