As the general elections are nearing, the breach of privilege war between Chamundeshwari MLA G T Devegowda and District Congress Committee (DCC) has begun.
While MLA G T Devegowda had said that he would move a breach of privilege motion against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Legislative Assembly, recently, DCC president B J Vijaykumar on Monday, challenged Devegowda to move the motion. In a press conference, here, Vijaykumar said, "Devegowda's allegations against Siddaramaiah's son Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah, also Chairman of Varuna Assembly Segment Housing Schemes Awareness Committee, of laying foundation stone to state government's projects under Chamundeshwari Assembly segment, are baseless."
Vijaykumar said that Devegowda's son G D Harish Gowda, also a director of the District Central Cooperative Bank, laid the foundation stone for some works at the Chamundi Hill village. "How can Harish Gowda launch government work? We will also move a motion against the MLA through the Deputy Commissioner," he said.
He took severe exception to the MLA speaking on the death of Rakesh Siddaramaiah, CM Siddaramaiah's elder son, who died in Belgium in 2016. "As Devegowda has suspected Rakesh's death to be unnatural. I will write a letter to the Director General and Inspector General of Police and also City Police Commissioner to conduct an investigation. As Devegowda has suspected the death, even he should be interrogated," he said.
Former chairperson of State Women's Commission Manjula Manasa said that Devegowda has no maturity and is acting like a commission agent. "Devegowda looted the lands of the farmers as chairman of the Karnataka Housing Board," she alleged.
Former MLA M Sathyanarayana, Mysuru Urban Development Authority Chairman D Dhruvakumar, and Congress women's wing president Nandini Chandrashekar were present.
