The only thing sweeter than chocolate on Valentine’s Day? A free 6-inch sandwich from Subway. On Wednesday, Feb. 14, Subway will be offering a deal on their 6-inch subs. Specifically, they're running a buy one, get one free promotion (the second sandwich must be the same price or less expensive than the first). The offer is good from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and is valid on all sandwiches except for double meat and extra cheese.

Unfortunately, the offer is only running in the U.K. Head to Subway’s website for a full list of participating stores. Luckily, if you’re in the U.S. and are hoping for a tasty Valentine’s Day freebie, there are plenty to choose from. McAlister’s Deli is offering two complimentary kids meals for each adult entrée purchased, and Auntie Anne’s is giving out free heart-shaped pretzels in stores nationwide. You can even choose between original and cinnamon sugar.

The most romantic gesture, however, might be making a sub sandwich yourself. Start with 6-inch hoagie roll or a loaf of Italian bread and toast it in the oven if you want some crunch. (If your loaf is super doughy, pull out some of the bread from the inside before you start assembling). Slice the roll lengthwise without cutting all the way through and spread with mayonnaise, mustard, or whatever condiments you desire. Shingle any deli meat, such as salami or prosciutto, along the bottom, followed by sliced cheese and veggies—think tomatoes, roasted red peppers, or cucumbers. Drizzle with olive oil and red wine vinegar, and season generously with salt and pepper.
