In a significant development in the Kunduli gangrape and suicide incidents, the brother of the victim girl has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a CBI probe into the cases.
“I have no faith on the investigation by the State police. The probe should be handed over to the CBI for an impartial investigation,” the victim’s brother said.
He has also reportedly mentioned in the petition that the State police tried to sabotage the investigation by manipulating the medical evidences.
The apex court is likely to hear the petition in the third week of February.
He had earlier filed a case at the Koraput Sessions Court alleging that negligence on the part of several Government officials in the matter led to his sister’s suicide.
The case was filed by him against South-Western Range DIG S Shyni, Koraput district SP Kanwar Vishal Singh, DSP Niranjan Behera, District Police Headquarters Inspector Mamata Panigrahi, Pottangi PS IIC Dev Kumar Gomango, Koraput District Welfare Officer, the doctors who treated the girl and officials of the State Forensic Science Laboratory.
