MLA warns to blacklist contractors

Bishnupur, February 11 2018: Kumbi AC MLA S Bira today warned contractors of the PMGSY road- Sagang Sugnu to Khoijumantabi of possible blacklisting if the construction work of the road is not completed before rainy season.

The MLA said this during an inspection today.

The construction work of the 4.75 km PMGSY road was started in September 2015 and was scheduled to be finished by September 2016 .

The MLA came across many unfinished works at the sites he visited today.

The inspection witnessed poor earthworks at Thoubaltabi area which face regular flood from the overflowing water of Manipur River.

Funds meant for construction of two culverts along the road were found to have been withdrawn without any work.

Stating that even WBM (Water Bound Macadam) works have not been started in many parts of the road, the MLA warned the contractor concerned that he may be blacklisted if the work is not completed before rainy season.

Citing poor earthworks in many areas, the MLA asserted that the contractor will have to bear the compensation for damages done by flood in future.

The MLA also inspected the ongoing work of the Wangoo Ring Road during the end of his visits.

The 1.85 km Inter Village Road is being improved under PWD Manipur at a cost of Rs 56 lakh.

The improvement work of the 3-3.75 meters wide road was started from February and is scheduled to be finished by March 31 .
