The Society of Defence Technologists presented Technology Development and Technology Innovation Awards to personnel from various defence public sector undertakings here on Sunday.
The awards for 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015 -16 were presented by Ajay Kumar, secretary, defence production at Bhanur unit of Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL).
SODET is a professional and non-profit organisation comprising all the Central defence public sector undertakings and its objective is to share unique manufacturing facilities and process-related core competencies in order to have an effective utilisation of technological strengths.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Kumar said the government was emphasising on defence production in the country. “Our goals should move beyond ‘self-reliance’ and in the coming years, we must be able to export defence productions to other countries,” he said.
Dr Kumar said that India is among top ten countries in the world in terms of defence capabilities.
