Health Minister assures PHC at Khudei Khunou

Imphal, February 11 2018: Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar Singh has assured a Public Health Centre (PHC) at Khudei Khunou (Khotle Yulran) of Chandel district.

Attending the foundation day cum platinum jubilee celebration of Khudei Khunou village as the chief guest, Jayantakumar observed that there is a need to improve health sector for longetivity of human life.

He said that for meeting this purpose, establishment of well-developed health facilities throughout the State is the need of the hour.

He said that the medicinal plants found around us, especially in the hilly terrains are of great value as it can be processed to be used as medicines.

This will not only benefit the farmers but also provide a source of revenue for the State, he asserted.

The Minister informed that the State Government is planning to open a medicine factory in the State with the available resources.

The Central Government has been intimated regarding the matter, he added.

Highlighting the richness of art and culture of Maring community, Jayantakumar said that indigenous song and dance form of the community is not lesser than others.

On the occasion, the Minister unveiled a monumental stone erected to mark the platinum jubilee celebration of Khudei Khunou village.

A booklet containing the brief history of the village was also released by the chief guest.

The foundation day cum platinum jubilee celebration was also attended by L Modun Charang, president of Maring Uparap Assembly (MUA) and Willington Tonsin, Executive Member, Education and PHED, ADC Chandel as the president and guest of honour respectively.

Chiefs and chairmen of the adjoining villages and villagers of Khudei Khunou village were also present at the function.

As part of the celebration, villagers performed cultural dances and songs.
