A BSF commandant, arrested on charges of corruption by the CBI, was today remanded to judicial custody by a Fast Track Court here. Jibu D Mathew was produced here before a Fast Track Court in charge of CBI and remanded to judicial custody till February 26, sources said. He was arrested at Alappuzha railway station a few days ago with Rs 47 lakh in cash when he alighted from Shalimar Express, on his way to his home town Pathanamthitta. The CBI's charge was that Mathew had accepted bribe from smugglers from Bangaladesh for favours received by them. Mathew is a Commandant of BSFs 83rd battalion, deployed on the Indo-Bangla border in West Bengal.
