New Delhi, Feb 12: Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday visited soldiers and civilians, who were injured in the terror attack at Sunjuwan military camp, at the Army hospital in Jammu. The anti-terror operation inside the Sunjuwan army camp has been continuing for the last three days and it has not been officially called off so far.

Four terrorists were killed by the Army during the operation that has now been on for over 50 hours. Five soldiers and a civilian were killed by terrorists, who entered the army camp around 4.45 AM on Saturday.

Sitharaman also held a high-level security review meeting. It was attended by the three service chiefs, defence secretary, and other top officials. The meeting was held at Army headquarter in South Block. Later, she also met Jammu and Kashmir state chief minister Mehbooba Mufti.

Eleven people, including six women and children were injured in the attack by terrorists, who were wearing army fatigues. According to reports four terrorists had entered the two buildings of the Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) quarters after hurling grenades and using heavy volume of automatic gunfire on Saturday. The Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has claimed the responsibility for the deadly attack.

On Sunday, the Army launched a clearing operation and fired motor shells at the vacated residential quarters. Sanitisation or combing exercise is a standard part of the drill to ensure that the gunfight site is secure and safe.
