Mumbai: Police detain Congress women activists before ‘laughter’ protest

Mumbai: The Congress party Mumbai women wing activists have been detained by Mumbai police on Sunday. The women activist decided to hold a laughter protest in front of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis while his visit to Malavani, Malad. However, before they could demonstrate any protest they have been detained said Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam. Nirupam also stated it was a silent protest against the remark made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Congress leader Renuka Chowdhary.

Nirupam added its undemocratic by not allowing the opposition to hold any protest. There are various issues on which the opposition wants to raise voice however on the instruction of CM fadnavis police detains the protectors which is wrong. Chowdhury was heard protesting the PM’s jibe in the parliamentary session. The Congress leader’s loud chuckling had also infuriated Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu, who stopped PM Modi in between and asked Chowdhary to stop laughing, however, PM Modi urged Naidu not to stop her from laughing stating that after the Ramayan serial, they got the privilege of hearing this kind of laughter only today, which left parliamentarians burst into laughter.
