Love Action Drama: Nayanthara, Nivin Pauly's maiden collaboration to go on floors in June

When the announcement of Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara teaming up for a romantic film titled Love Action Drama was made last year, fans of both actors enthused over the first association of the combo. However, the project, which was initially slated to go on floors in October 2017, got postponed due to some call sheet issues. Now, the makers have announced that the much-awaited movie will start rolling from June this year.

Love Action Drama marks the directorial debut of actor Dhyan Sreenivasan, son of veteran actor Sreenivasan and brother of the multi-talented Vineeth Sreenivasan. "Since Nivin Pauly has gained some extra weight for his titular role in Rosshan Andrrews' period film, Kayamkulam Kochunni, he will have to shed a few kilos to play the character of Dineshan in Love Action Drama. Once he wraps up the shooting of Kayamkulam Kochunni, he will begin prepping for the role of Dineshan next," a source told Firstpost, adding that important portions will be canned in Chennai and Alappuzha.

Love Action Drama is inspired by the classic 1989 Malayalam comedy Vadakkunokkiyanthram, which starred Dhyan's father Sreenivasan (Dineshan) and Parvathy Jayaram (Shobha) as leads. The story of the film revolved around how the inferiority complex of the dark-skinned Dineshan towards his beautiful-looking wife Shobha sparks off marital discord between the duo.

"Nivin Pauly will play the role of Dineshan and Nayanthara will essay Shobha. Although Nivin's character will have some similarities with yesteryear film's Dineshan role, there are no other common factors. I conceived the story of Love Action Drama eight years ago for a short story competition. Aju Varghese was one the one who pushed me to flesh out the script for a feature film. Love Action Drama will be a contemporary take on Vadakkunokkiyanthram," Dhyan Sreenivasan had told the media while launching the film last year.

Produced by Aju Varghese and Visakh Subramaniam under the banner Funtastic Films, in association with M Star, Love Action Drama will have music composed by Shaan Rahman. Vivek Harshan has been signed to take care of the film's editing. Besides bankrolling the project, Aju Varghese will also play a pivotal role in the film, which is currently in the pre-production stage.
