Over 55,000 trained graduate (TG) teachers would hold a mass agitation in the city during the coming Budget Session of the State Assembly if their demands are not met by then.

The Milita BEd Sikshak Mahasangha informed this after holding a worker’s meeting here on Sunday. The Mahasangha has demanded that the Government implement TG Salary of Rs 9,300 plus Grade pay of Rs 4,600 as per the Sixth Pay Commission and increase the salary and Grade Pay of all Siksha Sahayaks by 25 per cent and 10 per cent respectively, by February 13.

“The State Government has appointed BEds in the TGT posts in upper primary schools at a salary of Rs 7,500 only. While teaching in Class IX and X have been easier with appointment of BE d teachers in upper primary schools, it is disappointing that the Government has not yet implemented the Supreme Court’s ‘equal pay for equal work’ order,” lamented leaders.

BE d Siksha Sahayak Sangha president Ajay Kumar Dhal and general secretary Debendra Kumar Nayak, ATRIBUZO president Santosh Kumar Pradhan and general secretary Ranjan Mohanty and Elementary TG Teachers Association president Laxman Mohanty and general secretary Muralidhar Nayak were present.
