Kadiresh (R).
Two suspects involved in the murder of history-sheeter Kadiresh surrendered before the 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court on Monday.
The duo, Naveen and Vinay, who are brothers, walked into the court wearing black coats worn by advocates.
As soon as they appeared before the judge, the court staff alerted the police, and the duo was secured before the judge.
They had shaved their heads and were changing location frequently.
The duo was on the run for five days after murdering Kadiresh on February 7. Kadiresh was the husband of BJP Chalavadipalya corporator Rekha R.
A source in the police said the suspects surrendered out of fear of being killed in an encounter.
After murdering Kadiresh, the suspects ran for around 300 metres near Balekai Mandi and threatened a bike rider using blood-soaked weapons. They escaped from the spot using the bike.
The duo then fled to Tirupati in a Tempo Traveler and shaved their heads.
Four police teams visited several places in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, but the suspects remained elusive.
The police challenged the suspects' plea stating that they are habitual offenders. The court later sent them to police custody for 10 days.
A senior police officer said, "They told us three more people are involved in the murder. But they are yet to reveal why they killed Kadiresh."
