Students from the Industrial Design Centre (IDC) at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT) stood second in Auto Expo 2018 which was held in Greater Noida in a future mobility contest.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, these students stood second for their futuristic autonomous sports car design which was part of a future mobility contest which saw participation from around 50 teams across India.
The ideas, reportedly, ranged from mobility solutions in rural areas, especially in case of medical emergencies. Other ideas included luxury yacht with a focus on futuristic transportation.
The theme of the contest revolved around futuristic transportation with a focus on autonomous vehicles in the motorsports industry which is a growing focus in the automobile sector.
Sugandh Malhotra, assistant professor at IDC, reportedly said that the students went through various stages of interview and tests. Malhotra further added that one of their students secured one of the top three positions.
AutoExpo 2018 is taking place in Delhi NCR. It is open for the public from up to 14 February.
This bi-annual event saw various models of cars which included concept cars and electric vehicles.
