On the third day of his pre-poll rally in Karnataka, Cong chief continues his tirade against PM on job creation and corruption

Kalaburgi, February 12

Job creation, corruption and Article 371(J) (special status to the Hyderabad-Karnataka region) continued to be Congress President Rahul Gandh’s tirade against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Beginning the third day of his pre-election rally from Raichur, Rahul proceeded to Deodurga, Shahapur, Jevargi and Kalburgi.

At Raichur, Rahul spoke on the youth getting restless without jobs.

Addressing a public rally in Jevargi in Kalaburgi district, Rahul said the BJP and Modi have no moral right. “Just see how the BJP and its affiliates have unleashed atrocities on SC/STs and adivasis in Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.”

“Modi, the BJP and its affiliates have to learn from the Karnataka government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who has taken along all sections of society,” he said.

He questioned the PM on his initiative to create jobs. “When China is creating 50,000 jobs every 24 hours, our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, despite launching Make in India, Start-up India and Digital India has only created 450-500 jobs per day in the country.”

To a cheering crowd, Rahul asked the BJP to come clean on its party president Amit Shah’s son’s business fortune.

He asked Modi, as to why, while speaking about corruption, he doesn’t answer how Shah’s son turned ₹50,000 into ₹80 crore in three months.

“Modiji, you talk of corruption in Karnataka. If you have some time after talking of the past, look at people you have in your party. What you get see on one side is Yeddyurappa, who has been to jail; and on the other side, you get to see as many as four ex-ministers who went to jail for corruption,” he said.

“Modi should look forward and stay away from talking about the past and giving excuses, and instead talk about how to create and provide jobs to the youth, and change the lives of farmers. Why don’t you give answers to these burning problems?”

Talking about Article 371(J) which spells out a special package of incentives to the most backward region in Karnataka, Rahul said people voted for Modi to provide them jobs, education and healthcare, but it is the Siddaramaiah government in Karnataka which is giving them most of the jobs.

Interacting with farmers and farmer-based organisations in Sindhanur (Raichur), Rahul said the Congress considers farmers the country’s backbone. “If we come to power in Delhi, we will establish a revolving fund to bail out farmers and provide the right minimum support price and waive farm loans.”

He said the NDA government had last year written off loans worth ₹ 1.30 lakh crore of wealthy Indians, while ignoring farmers’ plight.
