Passengers faced horrific time on Sunday due to a six-and-half-hour long traffic-cum-power block on both the Up and Dn lines between Maniqui and Kandra railway stations and Chandil-Tatanagar sections of Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway ( SER). The traffic-cum-power block was carried out for launching of two limited height subways by replacing unmanned level crossings.
Passengers complained that of late such disruptions are taking place quite often leading to their sufferings. Cancellation of trains were: 58661/58662 Tatanagar-Hatia-Tatanagar passenger, 68014 Tatanagar-Kharagpur MEMU and 58032/58031Tatanagar-Chakulia-Tatanagar Passenger will remain cancelled. 68055 Asansol-Tatanagar MEMU Passenger was short terminated at Adra, 13301 Dhanbad-Tatanagar Subarnarekha Express leaving Dhanbad on 11.02.18 wa short terminated at Chandil and will short originate as 13302 from Chandil. Consquently, the service of this pair was cancelled between Chandil-Tatanagar-Chandil on 11.02.18. Barkakana-Tatanagar Passenger leaving Barkakana on 11.02.18 was short terminated at Chandil and will short originate as 58023 Passenger from Chandil as per schedule. Consquently, the service of this pair will remain cancelled between Chandil-Tatanagar-Chandil on 11.02.18.
18101 Tatanagar-Jammu Tawi Express leaving Tatanagar on 11.02.18 was rescheduled to leave Tatanagar at 15.50 hrs instead of 14.50 hrs on 11.02.18. 18184 Danapur-Tatanagar Express leaving Danapur on 11.02.18 was controlled for 40 minutes between Asansol–Chandil section.
Meanwhile, passengers had a tough time due to disruption in the train services. The enquiry counters of Tatanagar railway station were flooded with anxious passenger.
"I was not aware of the cancellation of Tatanagar-Kharagpur MEMU train. We came to know about it only after reaching the station this morning," said a passenger.
Another train- Tatanagar-Chakulia also remained cancelled today.
The centre at the Tatanagar railway station was flooded with queries. The Asansol-Tatanagar MEMU Passenger was short terminated at Adra. Due to 6 hrs 30 minutes Traffic-cum-Power Block on both Up and Dn line between Manikui-Kunki Stations and Kunki-Kandra Stations of Chandil- Tatanagar Section of Chakradharpur Division from 10:15 hrs to 16:45 hrs on 11.02.2018 (Sunday) for launching of two Limited Height Subways.
The Tatanagar station assumes importance in view because it is located on the Howrah-Mumbai main route. Several important trains travel via Tatanagar, including the high-profile Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express. The station sees a daily traffic of 90 mail, express and passenger trains, besides a footfall of more than 60,000 passengers.
